     Ten Commandments for Overcoming the
                                                 Spirit of Dissension

The devil brings dissension in order to divide and conquer. By obeying the following commandments you will overcome his schemes.

1.     Take the responsibility for keeping the peace

It is to a man's honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel (Proverbs 20:3).

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone (Romans 13:18).

2.      Do everything without complaining or arguing

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure …(Philippians 2:14).

3.      Don't strife without a just cause

Do not accuse a man for no reason when he has done you no harm (Proverbs 3:30).

4.     Cover others with love

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins (Peter 4:8).

5.     Drop the matter at the right time

Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out (Proverbs 17:14).

6.     Don't associate with those who cause divisions in the church

I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them (Romans 16:17-18).

7.     Respond to dissension with grace and gentleness

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger (Proverbs 15:1).

8.     Agree with your adversary quickly

Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way… (Matthew 5:25).

9.     Keep it private but know when to take it public

If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along…(Matthew 18:15-17).

10. Don't go to bed angry

In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold (Ephesians 4:26-27).
